High spots occur when excess ceramic coating is left on the surface and not buffed off correctly during the levelling stage of application. Streaking is a related issue, usually appearing as faint lines or smears across the panel where the coating was not levelled evenly during application. Both high spots and streaking are signs that the applicator did not follow the manufacturer's working time and levelling process correctly, often because they were moving too quickly through the job.

Correcting high spots and streaking after the coating has cured is far more difficult than getting the application right the first time, which is exactly why the buffing and levelling stage needs to be done properly while the product is still workable.

Premature Water Spotting

A correctly cured ceramic coating creates a hydrophobic surface that causes water to bead tightly and sheet away cleanly. If you notice water sitting flat on the surface and drying into spots within the first few weeks of a new coating, rather than beading and rolling off, this is a sign that something went wrong either with the curing process or the product application itself.

This can happen if the vehicle was exposed to water or contamination before the coating had fully cured, which interferes with the chemical bonding process and prevents the coating from reaching its intended hardness and hydrophobic performance. It can also occur if insufficient product was applied, leaving an inconsistent or thin layer that does not perform as a properly cured coating should.

Swirl Marks Appearing Almost Immediately

A newly coated vehicle should not show fresh swirl marks within the first few weeks unless it has been washed incorrectly. Lack of a Proper Paint Assessment Beforehand
